Munyeca is the newest member to our farm. She is an 8 yr. old Jersey milk cow.She currently gives about 2 1/2-3 gallons per day with her calf nursing.
Munyeca means Doll in Spanish, and she definately lives up to her name! When we brought her home, she had just weaned off 3 of her 4 calves. She had one of her own,but produced so much milk that her owner fostered two more calves on her,and then brought home another little guy and, also fostered him on her as well. She came here with her last fostered calf,a Black Angus.
We have been working on getting her weight back on her,and have switched her to an organic maintnence program. She has picked up some weight and had her feet trimmed and is doing wonderful.
She had a horribly chapped udder, and was pretty cut up from nursing 4 calves. We started using our Melaleuca products on her and she healed up quickly. Now we use Melaleuca's Tough and Tender and a little Sol-U-Mel as a wash, and she hasn't been chapped, sore ,or had too many issues with flies. As an added bonus, the flies and bugs don't like Melaleuca products,so they stay away.We also use their products when cleaning the barn and this acts as a bug deterient. If you would like more information on Melaleuca products, just contact me.
