Sheep
Our first group of sheep were purchased from a lady in Davenport, WA. We contacted her to inquire about some of our goats as she was the original breeder on their papers. She was thrilled that they finally ended up in good care, but sad to hear about their rough life after leaving her farm. She was no longer raising Pygoras, but had some Icelandic Sheep and a few mixed bred sheep that she needed to re-home. In 2008 we brought home a Rambouillet/CVM ewe named Maggie Mae, a Jacob/Icelandic ewe named Oreo, and her son, and two registered Icelandic rams, Harold and Jack Sparrow. In August of 2009, a friend and her daughter showed Maggie Mae, Jack Sparrow and two new Icelandic ewes, Sunday and Sugar Lips. All took home ribbons, and Jack won Grand Champion over all wool breeds at our fair. We were so excited because we accidentally entered him in the wrong class! He ended up competing with all other wool breeds,so it was quite an acomplishment to take a Grand Champion in that class.
Later that fall we brought home the last 5 of Nina's Icelandic Sheep. We have recently added two new sheep to the herd,Merino Shetland cross ram and ewe. These two will mix well with our CVM/Rambo ewe and will give us the very fine wool type that I have been searching for.We now have a very diverese group of animals, truely a handspinners flock!
